Recommendations and Comments from our Clients and Families

Today was a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful day and definitely one for the books… Richard Delner, after being away from home for 5 months, has finally returned to his home.
We did just a wonderful job on the house and managing his care. He looks and feels great. He was almost too choked up to get the words out but he did have much praise for us for a job (many jobs) well done. He is very thankful to everyone at LCI for all their hard work, advocating, psych and medical maintenance, HMS, money management and tender loving care.
He truly believes that if it were not for LCI’s involvement, he would “never had made it” and he says that “he never knew how bad he was living until we came along and SAVED HIS LIFE”. Now… tell me that you eyes are not welling up with tears right now. Everyone needs to really be proud of ourselves for what we have been able to accomplish with Richard.
Richard is now home with 24 caregiver support. He will be joining a day program next week and he will continue to work on his social skills, ADL’s and become more and more independent.
One day soon, perhaps you can stop by to meet the man who you have been helping all this time. Richard is truly a wonderful, brilliant and BEAUTIFUL person and mind….. and we have helped preserve it…..he has many thanks for you all (Martha and I received some hugs for you all as well)! (and so do I……)

Dear Erica,
I know you must be missing those late night e-mails. I do! I just don't know how to thank you for taking care of all of us these last 4 months. You are terrific! It was so heartwarming to see M. light up when you came into his room.
I admire and appreciate your professionalism, skill and focus, but also the soft side - - the stuffed animal and flowers.
Thank You again for your friendship and expertise!

Marian,
We also were glad to have met you and feel that you are ever so right for H. You are an exceptional person, and we could not have asked for better. So, thank you for being there for Hilda. All in all, my family and I are so very glad that your support, and that of Mr. Lopardo with finances, is of great assistance to us. Thank you for "being there."
Love,
~JD. (August 04)

One of our clients
has a very severe psychiatric illness
that has resulted in her being a recluse for over 20 years.
She has been working with our staff for purposeful activities
and had knitted these beautiful sweaters for Christmas for
under privileged children. We are all proud of her!
This is a lovely email from one of our clients who we helped get and train on a computer. He has MS and the world is now open to him. So cool.

David and Jill,
I am sending my thanks as well as forwarding to you both our client's expressions of appreciation. You did a great job in working with this project. He had very good feedback about both of you and his experiences with you today: he said that you were both great; that David was very patient and that Jill was very kind. He also said you both were very knowledgeable, and this impressed him a great deal. He is quite pleased and impressed with the design/layout of the imac. Today you helped open a world of new opportunities for him and created good memories of today that he will always enjoy.
Two thumbs up,
~Pat

5 years later...

JS was one of our very first cases. She was 50 years old when we met her. Her husband had recently died of leukemia. She started to lose her hearing due to a degeneration of her inner ear bones. The insurance company refused to approve the cochlear implant, artificial inner ear, replacement and she became more and more deaf. She became so stressed by the situation and her husband's death she ended up with a triple bypass. She became completely deaf after the procedure and hired us to fight her insurance company. To make a long story short we won and she got her inner ear replacement and she could hear immediately after the surgery. She feels it was the beginning of her life turning around to the positive. The insurance company folded and we assisted her on getting on CHIPs. It has been 5 years and she called us again to see if she could get on a "CHIPs" program in Texas and scheduled to take us out to lunch. She came in and began telling her story to Jill and Sandy about getting her hearing back and getting the positive back into her life. They both started crying so she decided to take us all out to lunch. So we asked her about Texas. At 60 years old, 8 years after her husband's death, she has met up with the "kissing bandit" of her kindergarten class. She is planning on moving to Texas to spend the rest of her life with him. She is very happy. She is hiring us again to make sure she has insurance coverage in Texas for without the insurance she could not move to Texas due to her past medical history. It is very special to see the long term impact that the work we do makes on peoples' lives. We all had the best lunch of the year that day.

Message from 5 years ago...
Dear Shay: The good news you send is a relief, joyous, and frightening all at the same time. I have friends in Peoria, Mackinaw, Canton, Minnesota, Wisc., Texas, Ariz., waiting to hear the okay. It will be a joy to hear again in so many ways.
Again, I can only thank you for all the hard work you've put into this. If it weren't for you and your determination, Richard and I would still be getting the cold shoulder from you know who!!!
~JS
(this was an insurance negotiation case where the insurance
company denied a new inner ear replacement for over a year; the difference
between hearing and not hearing. After intense negotiations they approved
the procedure. Now, JS calls us on the phone just to talk, and listen.)

Dear Ms. Jacobson,
B. and I wanted to thank your organization for the care you provided to my Aunt. Your organization was recommended to us when my Aunt was living at Plum Landing by the Plum Landing staff. We are indeed grateful for their advice as your organization performed and was there for us each step along the way from Plum Landing to Meadow Brook and during my Aunt's last years of her life.
Residing some 1,000 miles west in Colorado, B. and I always felt our Aunt was taken care of probably always knowing that your organization was checking on her and her physical environment.
You also led us to other professionals who created a trust preserving my Aunt's assets so that her remaining funds went for her personal maintenance and support...not nursing home expenses. Thank you.
I cannot speak highly enough about Karen Zedonis and her professionalism. She provided my Aunt not only health care but displayed a true love and friendship toward Aunt L. She communicated with us in a timely manner when needed and kept us up to date on any of my Aunt's needs.
Karen Z. is not only an outstanding professional but is a quality person.
I would recommend you and your organization to anyone who needs professional assistance with a dear one.
Sincerely,
~RC
Dear Karen Z.,
I sent you and Laurine a little note on Monday, which I hopes lets you both know how much I appreciate everything you did for my mother and your support for me and D. Even in these circumstances it takes some time to deal with the many emotions which seems to pop up unexpectedly, but at least I know that you, especially, spent an enormous amount of time and effort making sure that my mother had as much care and comfort as possible.
All my best,
~JD
Lane,
I just wanted to let you know what a great job you are doing. The attorney on the T. case just can't say enough about you. You are addressing all of the health care needs on his client. Good work!
~A Bank President
Thank all of you for helping me get through this period of POA and making decision about Sara. All of you, Lane, Laurine, and Karen Z. were so much help to me and Sara.
~Kate
Dana,
I just want to thank you for all you are doing for my father. It was so sweet that you called me from dad's room at BL and that I got to speak to dad. . .Thank you so much. You have a HUGE heart! You are certainly making a big difference in our family! I feel much better knowing you are checking in on dad.
Love,
~Carol
Dear Lane,
Please forgive my tardiness in expressing our entire family's gratitude for all you, Jannine, Vicky, and the many others did for our Aunt Lori. It was such comfort for us to know you were looking after her needs, and helping to keep her spirits up. Dan. and I were very appreciative that you and Jannine took the time to come to the funeral - giving up a Saturday. We were particularly pleased that Jannine had called one of the Peet family to whom we could give many of the family photos.
Our niece Jan decided she would like her wedding ring, so we were glad we decided to keep it as a memento.
The past 6 months have been unusually demanding for me, with quite a lot happening with family members and close friends. One of my closest friends is dying of breast cancer so I have been trying to spend time with her. My business has gotten so busy that 6-day weeks have become the norm - which is more than I would prefer. All of which simply means that we could not have managed without the support you provided.
If we can ever provide a reference that would be helpful, we would be very pleased to do so.
Fondly,
~Tina

Dear Laurine: We just want to send a note to Thank You so very much for your assistance in working with the insurance company to provide better care for our Mom. Although God has now called her home, we can honestly say that Thanks to you we were able to provide the best care to keep her comfortable in her final days. Everything about you and HCI was done in a compassionate, professional and first class manner. We have told everyone about how wonderful you are and hope we can help you continue in your good work.
May God Bless You!
~J+SR
Dear Ms. Jacobson: I just wanted to take this opportunity to express my admiration for you and the obviously sincere efforts you make on behalf of many people who are in need of assistance. I am going to keep your card in a handy place for future reference.
~Atty. JFY (This was a letter from an opposing council.)
In brief, Shay and her people have been of enormous assistance in finding home care, assisted living care, interfacing with the doctors and the hospital, etc., etc., etc.
~DW
I was nice getting to know you, and I appreciate all of the time and effort that you have put into guiding us through this time consuming and difficult transition. Again, thanks for your help, and I am thrilled that we got as far as we did.
~SM
Growing older and increasingly infirm is not an easy process, principally to the parent and secondarily for the family. HCI has worked with all of us to ease the way. We believe that we are doing the best that can be done, in a situation that eventually will happen to all of us. We would not want to face the challenge now without HCI's help.
~GW

I have found the services of HCI to be invaluable in dealing with the personal care issues of elderly clients. Not only is appropriate care professionally secured but follow up monitoring is provided. Since a law office is not really equipped to deal with such issues, their services are of enormous help not only to the attorney but, more importantly, to the client.
~B.A. Elder Law Attorney

Dear Shay, I would like to take this opportunity to compliment Lane Bruskin for all the wonderful work that she had done for P., and for the Bank. The whole situation that P. had become involved in was very difficult, and Lane, through her coolheadedness and ability to gain and hold P.'s trust, was able to diffuse many potentially dangerous situations. I know that the Bank could not have handled this situation without Lane. Lane is an extremely competent, caring professional, and a real credit to Life Care Innovations. She has our thanks, and respect.
~C.J. Bank Executive Vice President

Dear Ms. Jacobson, I would like to thank you and your staff for the caring service you provided. You were able to relieve enormous pressure on the family in trying to find the best service possible to care for L. in her final years.
With much gratitude,
~IP
